The Kick-off-meeting, as the first Consortium meeting of the PRO-PDPC project with coordinator Agricultural University-Plovdiv and partners University of Debrecen, University of Napoli, Mansoura University, Ain Shams University, Alexandria University, Suez Canal University, South Valley University and Sohag Universitye, took place at the premises of the Agricultural University-Plovdiv, Bulgaria from 9th to 13th of December 2019. Official guests at the opening of the event were Prof. Hristina Yancheva, Rector of Agricultural University – Plovdiv (AUP), the Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Svetla Yancheva and Mr. Adham Omar Third Secretary at the Embassy of Arab Republic of Egypt in Sofia-Bulgaria. The event brought together the entire consortium to outline the next steps in each of the work packages and ensure the coordination of activities between work packages. Effective WP discussions, which included the participation of all consortium representatives, resulted in clarity on tasks to be undertaken over the next 6 months, as well as important linkages across WPs. The outcomes of this meeting will also serve as inputs to the development of the detailed work plan, which has been created on the shared internal Website platform to be updated by the consortium partners in the coming months.

The aims:

-to meet face to face all of the partners, allowing to have deep discussions about the different activities to implement on it, and understand the project background, objectives, expected results and what has each partner to do to achieve all of them.

-to ensure that all partners recognize their role in accomplishment of the project goals.

-to present institutions, establish criteria and procedures for communications between partners, management and decision-making structures and define functions of Working Groups, and local project coordinators.

The official opening of the project included congratulatory statement from Prof. Hristina Yancheva, Rector of Agricultural University – Plovdiv (AUP) and keynote speech by the representative of the Embassy of Arab Republic of Egypt in Sofia- Bulgaria, Mr. Adham Omar Third Secretary, to provide the background information that underpins the Egyptian partners and address the historical relationships and cooperation between Egypt and Bulgaria as well as the importance of EU project involvement to generate change in Education and other fields. On behalf of the Egyptian Embassy, Mr. Adham Omar expressed his gratitude for the EU Commission in supporting the Member States of EU and other countries such as Egypt with developing the agenda of Agricultural education and facilitating the collaboration between countries.

• The PRO-PDPC Project partner universities made presentations on their organization and activities with emphasis on their experience in Plant protection. During the next days, following the Agenda, the WP leaders successively introduced the objectives and the planned tasks for their respective work packages.
